Admire Paints CreteCare REPAIR MORTAR HB2 is a cement-based repair compound designed for reinstating damaged or deteriorated concrete. This product is particularly effective when enhanced resistance to chloride and carbon dioxide is required. Due to its lightweight nature, it is ideal for high-build repairs in vertical or overhead applications, allowing a thickness of up to 40mm vertically or 25mm overhead in a single application.

DESCRIPTION
Admire Paints CreteCare REPAIR MORTAR HB2 is a lightweight, polymer-modified cementitious mortar providing high build capabilities with excellent resistance to chloride ions and the diffusion of acidic gases like carbon dioxide. It contains specially blended cements, graded sands, and chemical additives, which combine thermally to offer superior compatibility with concrete and exceptional water-repellent properties.
This product is suitable for both vertical and horizontal applications. It can be applied in thicknesses ranging from 5mm to 15mm on vertical surfaces, with higher thicknesses achievable through formwork. Horizontal applications can go up to 50mm in thickness. Ensure the application is not less than 5mm in thickness.

STORAGE/SHELF LIFE
Admire Paints CreteCare REPAIR MORTAR HB2 has a shelf life of 12 months when kept in unopened packs in a dry, cool storage area. Storage in high-humidity environments may reduce the shelf life.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Surface Preparation:
- Clean the surface, removing dust, unsound material, plaster, oil, grease, corrosion deposits, or algae.
- Roughen the surface and remove laitance via light scabbing or grit blasting.
- Saw-cut the edges of the repair area to at least 10mm depth to avoid feather edging and ensure a square edge.
- For oils and grease, use steam cleaning, detergent scrubbing, or a proprietary degreaser.
- Expose and clean any corroded steel in the repair area to bright steel condition, preferably via grit blasting.
Priming: For Steel:
- Apply a coat of Admire Paints Zinc Phosphate Primer, allowing it to dry for 1-2 hours at 20°C before continuing.
For Concrete/Masonry:
- Thoroughly soak the substrate with water, removing any excess, and then apply one coat of Admire Paints CreteCare DAMPSEAL 2K, scrubbing it well into the surface. Once the primer is tacky, you can proceed with applying the repair mortar.
- In cases of permanently damp substrates, use Admire Paints CreteCare DAMPSEAL EP as a barrier.
Mixing:
- Mix thoroughly using a forced-action mixer or a paddle mixer (400-500 rpm).
- For a 5kg bag, mix 875ml of water with 150g of the supplied liquid polymer (Part B), then add the powder and mix for 2-3 minutes until fully blended.
- Do not mix part bags.
Rendering:
- Apply the mixed mortar to the prepared substrate with a trowel or gloved hand. Compact the mortar thoroughly onto the primed substrate and around any reinforcement bars. Additional Build-Up:
- For thicker applications, apply multiple layers, ensuring each layer is adequately compacted.
- When applying multiple layers, scratch key the surface of intermediate layers and re-prime with Admire Paints CreteCare DAMPSEAL 2K before adding further mortar.
- The minimum applied final thickness is 10mm. If sagging occurs, remove the mortar and reapply at a reduced thickness.
Finishing:
- Finish the mortar using a straight edge, and smooth with a steel float. Wooden or plastic floats can be used for different surface textures. Curing:
- Curing should be done immediately after trowelling. For large areas, cure as you proceed, covering about 0.5m² at a time.
- In fast-drying conditions, supplement curing with a polythene sheet, especially in cold climates to protect the repair from freezing.
Health & Safety Precautions
- Admire Paints CreteCare REPAIR MORTAR HB2 contains cementitious powders, which are harmless to dry skin but may release alkali when damp, which can be harmful.
Precautions:
- Avoid inhaling dust.
- Wear protective clothing, goggles, gloves, and barrier creams.
- If contact with skin or eyes occurs, wash immediately with clean water. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.
- If ingested, seek medical advice immediately (do not induce vomiting).
